I did it, I made it one year with two kids! Jk, but not really. See my post here about having a really hard time going from one to two babies! I always go all out for the kids’ first birthdays, and then taper off a little from there. We like to go on trips instead of have huge parties, at least until they are old enough to ask for a party! I found this theme-BEE day-and loved it, and it came out so cute I wanted to do a blog post on it and link all my decor for someone else to use! Foster’s birthday is August 13th so I rented a neighborhood pool so everyone could just swim, and it was super easy!
Food
Beehive sandwiches: I cut the sandwiches with the cookie cutter here, and did peanut butter and honey to stay on theme
Honeycomb cereal cups: so cute, and such a hit
Bee Stingers: purple grapes and pineapple chunks on skewers
Mini cake: I used these pans and just a box of cake mix to keep it simple. I also used store bought vanilla icing and food coloring and just dyed it yellow!
Cake: Store bought cake mix, and store bought vanilla icing same as above! Candy bees are here, and I topped with powdered sugar. I cut each cake layer so it would be flat, and turned the top layer upside down to get the dark shade of the cake so the powdered sugar would “pop”.
Donut tree: this took 12 dozen donut holes but was such a hit with the kids and super easy to do. I made them the night before and just wrapped with Saran Wrap. Use toothpicks to “poke” and hold the donuts into the tree. Start at the base and work your way up. You need a lot like I said, and I placed them close to each other so you wouldn’t see the tree/cone. Stick whatever decor you want in the tree as well to make it pop!
Drinks: I served lemonade for the kids and Mimosas for us to stay on theme with the yellow color!
Decor
For our bathing suits, the girls wore yellow and the boys in black to stay on theme for the beesĀ Matching bathing suits
My bathing suit bottoms are here, I always wear them and mix and match my tops
Sunflowers and Daisies in vases were decor for the tables
Honeycomb wooden table decor: Hobby Lobby
Tablecloths: Round plain tablecloths were from Party City, the rectangular ones with bees are here
Daisy Garland: Michaels
Gingham Plates: Michaels
Cake topper: Free printable here
Letter board-I use this for almost all my parties and holidays! You can write anything!
