I never had an actual selfcare routine growing up, I took showers every night and took care of my skin starting at a young age, but never really made it a special routine for myself until I had children. With my first babe, I realized how little time to myself I actually had and how I rushed through everything, not knowing if the baby would wake or need me. Now, with two babes, it’s double the work and double the rush! I really had to stop this year and figure out how I would make time for myself and what that would look like in my house. My husband and I devised a plan that he would come home from work and do the kids bath and bedtime routine most nights, which allowed me to hop in the shower and take care of my hair and skin without rushing. Some nights when the kids go to bed earlier because of school, I can have an hour to do my routine after they go down. I actually really love my hair and skin care products and enjoy doing my routine. I think it is my time of reflection on the day, letting thoughts run free and is my quiet downtime. Sometimes I grab a glass of wine, sometimes I’m into a great book, and can read while I’m in the bath. Other nights, it’s getting ready to go out with my husband or my girls, which makes me feel great too! Taking this time to myself has made me such a better mom. Sometimes I just need that 30min to recoup, gather my thoughts, and be alone. When I’m my best self, I can be the best for my kids and my husband. You have to take the time for yourself! I really learned this after having two kids. I was going crazy at some points, and I still have to remind myself that the house doesn’t have to be perfect all the time. Self care is most important! Yours may look different, or may be in the morning or during nap time, whatever works for you! I think it’s also important for your children to see you taking time for yourself and using great products. I hope to pass this down to them as well. My daughter already wants to use my lotions and conditioners and lipsticks! My hair wash days take longer than the other days, but I enjoy the time when I get to use the Pantene Nutrient Blends’ Fortifying Damage Repair shampoo, conditioner and serum. The sulfate-free line I use is for damage control, since I curl my hair and have heat on it a lot! It also suffers from our horrible humidity here in Houston! The serum helps with the humidity, as I can apply it to my hair wet or dry and then sleep on it, and style as usual! The Nutrient Blends Collection is also free of parabens, dyes and mineral oil! This is very important to us as a family, and I want to pass good, safe products down to my children. I remember using Pantene growing up as a child too! They learn by watching you, so I want to teach them the most important parts of taking care of yourself! The full Nutrient Blends Collection is available at Kroger. You can find this collection online as well here!
