Finley will be 19 months July 6th. How did this happen?! I want to talk about the first year vs. second year a little bit. For me, personally the 12 month mark was life changing. Although you never wish the time to go by, I did in a way long for things to get a little easier! The first year is hard! If you breastfeed it’s so demanding and if you also have to pump and go to work it’s even harder. The women that can just breastfeed and don’t have to pump I ENVY YOU! Finley ate every 2 hours for a few months, wouldn’t take a bottle and it was super hard. Eventually we went to every 3 hours and just kept trying the bottle every day. There were times I wasn’t home so he would have to take it or we would just have to keep trying because I wasn’t going to come home. And then before you know it I was introducing solids. I never did cereal we went right to veggies. Not fruit at the beginning either, veggies! I read that somewhere not to start with the “sugary” foods but introduce the veggies first. He was and still is an AMAZING veggie eater, and not so big on fruit. So lucky. I had to stop nursing at 7.5 months and switch to formula because I didn’t have enough milk and it was just so demanding and stressful to me. This relieved ALOT of pressure even though I was so sad. (Personal problem). Also, when I stopped nursing completely Finley ended up LOVING the bottle. Sidenote-I am home Thursdays-Sundays all day so I always do any changes on these days, not when he’s with his nanny. It took only a few days to ween him completely of nursing, way easier then I imagined. This was like step one to me to relieve some mom pressure. Step two was going to milk and hello money savings! I introduced milk to Finley at 11 months so at 12 months we stopped formula right away. I would just pour his milk into his formula and eventually added more and more till there was no more formula. He switched really easily and again, began to LOVE his milk. At 12 months of age too the eating gets really easy, he literally just eats whatever my husband and I eat which makes cooking and going out to eat very easy. He always has just eaten what we eat, when he was younger I just used the Beaba to blend it up smooth. I’m a HUGE fan of the Beaba and all the freezer trays and still use it today to steam our food!
