My husband and I took a quick three day getaway to New Orleans to celebrate our anniversary and had a completely difference experience than New Orleans usually brings (for bacherlor/bachelorette parties!). I knew before we went I wanted to stay at the Henry Howard Hotel just by seeing pictures of the boutique hotel. I didn’t even know where it was located, but when I saw it was far (10 min by car) from Bourbon street, in the cutest Garden District, I was thrilled! One block from the trolley and a few from Commander’s Palace, we were in Heaven! If we had stayed in the hotel the whole time, I would have been happy, that’s how much I loved it! We had our own room in the back of the hotel that you had to access from outside, having our own door. The coffee and croissants in the morning were a perfect touch, and I won’t forget the charming wallpaper adorning the walls in our room. We really didn’t want to leave, and cannot wait to return!
Our plan was to really just relax, spend time talking together and eating really great food! I’m going to list out the places we ate and visited and loved!
Eats
Cafe Du Monde
Of course I had to visit this spot, and it did not disappoint! We went for a mid-day snack and it was delicious, but super crowded, the line was wrapped around the building. If you go to the window in the back, it’s to-go, and the line was shorter! Totally worth it!
Commander’s Palace
We have Brennan’s restaurant here in Houston which is one of our favorites, so Commanders is good, but was just like Brennans, so we wished we had eaten somewhere that wasn’t SO similar to a place we had in Houston. It’s very pricey too.
Willa Jean
If I could eat here every day I would. We had brunch here (make reservations!) and we loved EVERYTHING. Got the salted chocolate chip cookies to go, and had the best almond milk latte we had ever had. Super cute and instagrammable, we would love to go back for lunch and dinner!
Meril
Emeril pretty much owns New Orleans with quite a few restaurants in the city, but we visited Meril which was affordable and had a great vibe. This would be perfect for girl’s night or a date night. They had great wine, salads, cheese board and more!
Shop
Magazine street Is the best street to shop on and visit the little boutiques. They have TONS of cute baby and kids items as well as trendy clothes for women and men and we even did some home shopping at Sunday Shop. We actually purchased some pillows and a rug for our home, and I love that every time I look at them I’m reminded of our trip!
