Park City Travel Guide

I FINALLY made it to Park City! I have tried twice already to plan a trip to Utah and both times they fell through, but it’s been very high on my list and IT. DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT. The weather alone is enough to not want to come back to the mosquitos and humidity of Houston. The scenery, the outdoor activities, the hotel! It was all so dreamy! I’m already planning to come back skiing with the kids! The drive from SLC airport is only 40 minutes too which is so amazing. The weather was highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s so I was so sad to come back to 100 degree weather here. We jam-packed two full days of activities to get the most out of our stay and it was just an incredible experience. Park City is known as “Winter’s favorite town” but there was so much to experience in the off season! Read below our top things to do during the summer!

This time we worked with the city of Park City to show you as much as we could in almost three days! We chose to do many outdoor activities because again, the weather, but there was a lot of shopping and dining we could have done as well! Here you can plan your own trip!

where to stay

I’ve worked with many hotels and I’ve paid for many hotels and the Washington School House blew us out of the water. It’s a small, 13 room boutique hotel that is staffed like a bed and breakfast. Breakfast and ALL beverages are included each day, and the food was amazing. Ask Kole to make you his london fog drink! We sat in the living area multiple times and met the guests and visited the pool three times! The small family feel was so nice and we loved getting to know the guests and the staff. I have NEVER been treated that well by the staff at any hotel ever. park city in the summer You can have breakfast sent to your room, packed to go, or dine in the living room!

Location to the actual town was amazing! The WSH was only one street over from all the shops, restaurants and bars so  we were able to walk everywhere!park city utah best hotels

AirBnB is great too, just stay close to the town and Park Ave or Main Street. Lots of shopping and restaurants are there so you can walk over if you’re close!

activities to do

Utah Olympic Park

We got the gold passes here so we could do as many activities as possible! We completed one of the ropes courses, extreme tubing and airbag jumps in a few hours. We didn’t want to leave, but had to to make our next activity but you could easily spend the day here. The had athletes training for the winter olympics and it was so fun to watch them practice ski jumping. Go first in the morning so the wait times aren’t long. We never waited more than 5 minutes at 10am. We would have loved to do the zip lining and the alpine slide. Watch my video of extreme tubing!utah olympic parkutah olympic center

Adventure Yoga

We drove up past the Montage to meet Sarah for hiking and yoga. Even at the middle of the day it was not too hot and the views were incredible! We hiked about a mile each way and in the middle set up our yoga mats and had about an hour experience. It was nice to take some time and be still, since our schedule was busy. We wouldn’t have taken the time for ourselves other than that. In the wintertime they snowshoe to hot springs and then do yoga on paddle boards! Amazing!park city in the summer

Paddle Boarding

We ate lunch at the Deer Valley Grocery Cafe right before paddling and it overlooks the area where all the paddle boarders were! It was so cool, we just had lunch and a glass of wine and then walked down to get our boards. You can do your paddle boarding and then dock back and do yoga on your board as well! I’ve never paddle boarded before but it was so fun and a quick activity to do!

Horseback riding

This was on the top of my list to do and it didn’t disappoint. The trails were easy to ride, the horses were great and our guides were super nice. It was cool the entire ride (about 1 hour and 15 min) and the scenery was amazing. We saw lots of Aspen trees and even some flowing water that was melted snow coming down from the mountains! Park City has 400 miles of trails that run between to two ski resorts and these are used for horseback riding and hiking during the summer season. Red Pine Adventures even does snowmobiling tours in the winter! horseback riding in park city

Ski

You can ski 4 minutes from town at Park City Mountain, or a little further away at Park City Canyons. Since this blog post, I’ve visited again with my family and skied with both of my kids. We loved Park City Mountain, and we all took lessons and LOVED the coaches. I cannot say enough great things about the coaches. The restaurants right at the mountain were very good too! We ate at Legacy a few times! I highly recommend taking a lesson and putting your kids in lessons as well, book everything early!

Tubing

Lots of fun snow adventures at Woodward Park city. We were supposed to go snow tubing one day but couldn’t drive there because of the road conditions! We were so bummed. You can also ski/snowboard here as well.

where to dine

Chimayo-coming from Texas we are experts in mexican food and this was just so delish! We ordered so much-the queso fondue, elk, chicken fajitas, all so good and super kid friendly and casual!

High West Distillery- go for the drinks and the whiskey! Great place if you’re on a date or with your hubby!

Handle-one of our favorite places while we were there. Fancier and more expensive, but we had oysters, fried cauliflower, short rib, pickled carrots, and two desserts! Great drinks too!

Salt Box-this was a little hidden gem about 10 minutes from our hotel but it was such a food find. You can sit down or grab and go, breakfast or lunch. We had a caprese salad, açaí bowl, burgers and grilled peach salads!

Harvest-cute little coffee shop with açaí bowls and avocado toast!boutique hotel park city
