Where to stay
Can you believe I’ve never been to Ft. Worth?! I live only four hours away and never been! When we were asked to check out the new Hotel Drover for a weekend getaway and be western themed for a weekend we were more that ecstatic! Another fun fact: I’ve never worn cowboy boots until this trip! Hotel Drover was the cutest western meets Palm Springs hotel designing each room with different finishes, murals, old fashioned photos and even bringing in a Lucchese boot shop to make custom boots for you and the cutest Wide Brim boutique. The hotel sits in the back of Mule Alley and the Stockyard so it was very quiet, but also a short walk to all the stores, and even Billy Bobs. Mule Alley is all new and upcoming with a coffee shop coming in, and more restaurants. Right now, in the same drive as the hotel they have a saloon, winery, a few shops and The Biscuit Bar. Walk down the street and your at the Stockyards shops and the old rodeo arena!
We visited this hat shop that sits inside the hotel about 5 times. Each of us picked up something, and even purchased a gift for our friend. We LOVE hats, and you can pick all the accessories out to decorate your own hat! We got scarves, pins and more!
what to do
First things first, we had to get our western gear! Remember when I said I didn’t own cowboy boots? Well, I didn’t own many other western pieces either! Wrangler was so kind to get us all suited up! The store in located right in the Stockyard, so we went there first, and then grabbed drinks at the hotel to relax a little! One day we grabbed lunch and then explored the general store, and other western stores and grabbed a coffee too!
Bike tour-if you’ve read any of my other travel guides you know I love to either 1) run the cities where I travel or 2) rent a bike/do a bike tour. This is always SUCH a fun way to see the city and get a little history/fun facts out of it! We toured downtown Ft. Worth with FW bike sharing on Saturday morning and had a super fun ride and coffee stop for a few hours. We ended it at Inspiration Alley, which you’ll see below, but tons of fun color walls and great photo ops! I wish the weather would have been nicer because there was a cute Brewery right across the street.
Cattle drive-every day at 11:30am and 4:00pm the Stockyard clear the roads as the cattle comes through the streets! You must stand on the sidewalks to watch and it lasts about 5 minutes, but how cool? My kids would have loved it!
Inspiration Alley-super fun photo ops you can stop at and see! One row of murals painted on the walls and it ends at the Sweet Tooth Hotel exhibit. The flamingos were also at the end, just something fun to do and take photos of! Our bike tour ended here so it was perfect!
where to eat
97 West Kitchen & Bar-Located in Hotel Drover, obviously super convenient if you’re lodging there, we had burgers, brussel sprouts, crab dip and margaritas of course!
Brewed-closer to Magnolia Ave area we had to drive here, but went on our way out so this was the perfect way to fill up before heading out of town. Large menu, with prices under $10 you can go healthy or splurge-I was so hungry I had chicken and waffles and ate everything but the last bite.
Side Saddle Saloon-located on the same street as Hotel Drover, this super chic but old fashioned saloon was so adorable! Grab a beer or wine here on your way out on the town, or coming back from shopping! They also had a few bites to eat that looked AMAZING!
The Biscuit Bar-we didn’t get to visit but everyone told us to go there. Just look at the photos on their IG, and who doesn’t love a biscuit anyway?
**Thank you so much to Visit Fort Worth and Hotel Drover for sponsoring this trip. All thoughts and opinions are my own**
